Recent climate news and research
Worsening heat waves and extreme weather events around the globe highlight the risks of climate inaction, particularly for vulnerable communities.

Recent Scientific findings
Global warming is accelerating. Current warming rates are approximately 0.42 to 0.48°C per decade.
The goal of the Paris Agreement is to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. We recently experienced three consecutive years of 1.5 degrees C warming.
Recent research suggests that climate sensitivity, the amount of warming expected from emissions, may be higher than previously thought.
Climate scientist James Hansen argues that current emission trends make 2°C of warming increasingly likely without rapid action.
What we can do
We still have time to act and reduce future harm through a rapid transition away from coal, oil, and natural gas toward renewable energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, and tidal power.
To protect critical ecosystems and respect planetary boundaries, we also need to reduce the widespread use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and other pollutants, protect 30-50% of land and ocean areas in their natural state, and transition toward systems that do not extract resources faster than Earth can safely regenerate.
